The Cognitive Triangle

I am passionate about being able to offer people the opportunity for personal and professional growth through coaching. I''m always amazed at my clients'' journeys and transformations and the lasting impact coaching has on their lives.

An important part of coaching is processing and reflecting on past & current situations and looking to the future. Acknowledging “what is” whilst looking at “what can be”.

Our thoughts impact on our feelings that can lead to behaviours, known as the Cognitive Triangle. By changing any one of these three areas we can change our situation.
But is it really as easy at that?
“I know why I do it and I’ve had counselling so I’ve dealt with it, but how do I chance the cycle of habit?”

The Cycle of Change describes the stages we go through and they are:
• 1. Pre-contemplation - Not yet acknowledging that there is a problem behaviour that needs to be changed.
• 2. Contemplation - Acknowledging that there is a problem but not yet ready, sure of wanting, or lacks confidence to make a change.
• 3. Preparation/Determination - Getting ready to change.
• 4. Action/Willpower - Changing behaviour.
• 5. Maintenance - Maintaining the behaviour change.
The Change cycle is also relevant when we struggle to reach our goals. What is getting in the way of our success?

If this is something that you can identify with, then start your change journey by contacting me.
